The Hague’s motto is peace and justice. The Prisoner’s Gate is a museum which will give you an insight on how justice was preserved in the previous centuries. It gives a lot off insight on the (sometimes dark) history of justice and prisoners. They don’t only tell you the history, but also have old instruments of correction. The gate was originally used as an entrance to the castle of the Counts of Holland. Later it was used as a prison and turned into a museum in 1882.
